History of Kenyalang Park📜
Did you know Kenyalang Park has roots dating back to the early 1900s? Originally part of the vast Siang Hak Huat Farm (上合发园), this 560-acre land was owned by Ng Bak Choon (黄木春), a Hokkien entrepreneur. Established around 1910, the farm was a thriving hub for rubber, peanuts, vegetables, fruits, and livestock—even employing 200 local Iban workers at its peak!

Ng Bak Choon’s journey was remarkable—born in China, he later moved to Kuching and became a respected leader in the Teochew community. His connections even helped him secure this land under the Brooke administration! After his passing in 1933, parts of the estate were sold, eventually leading to the birth of Kenyalang Park in the late 1960s.

Kenyalang Park: A Visionary Development 🏡🏙️
Developed in three phases, Kenyalang Park was ahead of its time:

Phase 1 (1968): Residential areas took shape.
Phases 2 & 3: More homes, shops, and lush green spaces transformed it into a vibrant community.

Today, it’s a self-sufficient neighborhood with schools, markets, places of worship, and even a police station—truly a model township!

The Golden Era of Kenyalang Park 🎭🌟
Back in its heyday, the Kenyalang Theatre was the heart of entertainment, hosting legendary stars like:
