As mental health challenges rise alongside our fast-paced digital world, the Sarawak government is stepping up. ๐ข Starting in 2026, Psychology will be part of the first batch of free university courses โ helping meet the growing need for mental health professionals in our society. ๐ฌ๐
Sarawakโs Education, Innovation & Talent Development Minister Dato Sri Roland Sagah shared that while not traditionally a STEM course, psychology is essential in todayโs world, where economic stress and digital anxiety weigh heavily on many.
๐ก โNot everyone needs to be a doctor or engineer. We need legal minds, financial experts โ and people who understand the human mind โ to build a truly healthy society.โ
The free education policy will first roll out in Sarawak-based universities and include:
โ
STEM fields (Science, Medicine, Engineering)
โ
Key practical courses like Law, Finance, Accounting โ and now, Psychology too!
This is a targeted move โ focused on areas that bring real social & economic value. ๐
And thatโs not all โ Sarawak will also support Malaysiaโs new TVET framework to grow more skilled, hands-on talent for the future. ๐ง๐ ๏ธ
๐ฃ๏ธ "We're investing in your future so you can learn without worry. But don't waste this chance โ apply your knowledge and make a difference!"
๐ Education made accessible. Mental health taken seriously. The future, made brighter.
