🎉 Celebrating Heritage Through Craftsmanship! 🧺
The first-ever Sa’ung Weaving Competition at the Kebana Festival in Miri brought together talented weavers from across Sarawak — all united by a mission to preserve and celebrate the Kenyah Badeng heritage. 🌿✨

More than 15 artisans from Long Busang, Bintulu, Miri, and Kuching showcased their skills in recreating the iconic sa’ung — a traditional dome-shaped sunhat — using age-old weaving techniques and natural materials. Some even added a modern twist, sparking conversations about innovation vs. tradition.

🏆 Congratulations to Epa Erang, the inaugural champion from Long Busang! Her meticulously crafted sa’ung using seling bamboo wowed the judges with its authenticity and precision.

📣 Organisers hope to make this an annual celebration to keep the Kenyah weaving tradition alive and thriving across generations.

Let’s continue to support indigenous arts and honour the stories woven into every strand. ❤️
