🌳 Sarawak to Host International Day of Forests 2025 at FRC Kuching! 🌳
Get ready! Sarawak will be the proud host of International Day of Forests (IDF) 2025, happening at the Forest Research Centre (FRC) in Kuching! 🎉

First introduced in 1971 as World Forestry Day, IDF is now a global call to action to protect our forests — the lungs of the Earth and lifelines for communities. 🌍

Organised by Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), which has been at the forefront of forest conservation since 1973, this year’s theme, “Forests and Foods,” shines a spotlight on how forests support biodiversity, food security, and traditional livelihoods.

🌿 In Sarawak, forests are more than just timber. They’re medicine cabinets, food baskets, and cultural roots — especially for our rural and indigenous communities. This celebration honours their role in forest stewardship and sustainability.

🏸 In the lead-up to the big day, FDS has hosted a series of fun sports events — badminton, bowling, futsal, golf, even blowpipe contests — to build community spirit and awareness.

📅 Happening on 12 July:
✨ Launch of the Forest Resources One Stop Gallery
🌱 The 50 millionth tree planting by the Premier of Sarawak (surpassing the original target of 35M!)
🌲 A forestry exhibition with NGOs, government agencies, academics, and community groups
🖊️ Signing of MoUs for stronger forest & climate partnerships

Let’s celebrate Sarawak’s leadership in sustainable forestry and its vision for a greener, healthier, and more resilient future. 💪🌏
