As of 8am today, Lundu’s Air Pollutant Index (API) hit 125, officially placing it in the unhealthy range.
📈 Meanwhile, several other areas in Sarawak are inching closer to that level:
Kuching: 94
Sri Aman: 91
Mukah: 90
🔍 According to the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), these numbers are still considered moderate (API 51–100), but the rising trend is worrying.
🔥 The Asean Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) reported a growing number of hotspots from open burning, especially along the Sarawak–Kalimantan Barat border near Lundu, which may be contributing to the haze.
🌡️ Hotspot clusters have also been detected in:
Kuching
Samarahan
Sri Aman
Betong
South of Sibu
Near Kapit
With smaller clusters in Mukah and northeast Bintulu
☀️ Dry weather continues to affect the southern ASEAN region, increasing the risk of haze.
