🌉 New Landmark for Kuching: Sungai Bintangor Bridge to Officially Open on August 5! 🚧
The long-anticipated Sungai Bintangor Bridge will finally be officiated by Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, on August 5 at Jalan Ajibah Abol! 🎉

On July 28, Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Director Dr Cassidy Morris conducted a final site inspection to assess technical readiness, logistics, and coordination ahead of the launch.

💰 With a contract value of RM50.6 million, the bridge faced significant delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and utility relocation issues. Construction began in December 2019, and after years of setbacks, the project is finally complete — ahead of the revised deadline!

📏 Spanning 108.5 meters across the Sungai Bintangor, the bridge features a striking central tower supported by three massive columns and a four-lane dual carriageway, complemented by the adjacent waterfront. It’s set to ease traffic flow and improve connectivity between Kuching city centre and nearby Malay villages.

🚗 The project also includes road widening along Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol, from the Divisional Mosque to the Jalan Hj Mataim junction.

Beyond infrastructure, this bridge is expected to become a new attraction in Kuching, blending modern design with local culture and heritage.

📆 While initially slated for completion in April 2024, the bridge will now be officially ready by August 2, 2025 — a proud moment for Sarawak’s ongoing development journey.
