A new chapter begins for Sarawak! This Monday (Aug 4), Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to soft launch Sarawak’s new administrative building in Petra Jaya – a stunning white structure that has been affectionately dubbed the “Sarawak White House” due to its architectural resemblance to the U.S. presidential residence. 🇲🇾🤝🇺🇸
📍 Perched on the hills of Petra Jaya, overlooking the Sarawak River and right next to the State Legislative Assembly Complex, the new building isn’t a residence, but a modern hub for administrative functions – a symbol of progress and good governance.
🗣️ Premier Abang Johari has emphasized that while the official name is still pending, the design reflects Sarawak’s bold vision of becoming a region known for strong institutions and global ambition.
👷♂️ The nearly completed structure includes a main building of at least three storeys, flanked by two double-storey wings on each side – a landmark that’s set to define the future of governance in Sarawak.
And yes – the soft launch also happens to fall on the Premier’s 75th birthday. Double celebration, anyone? 🥳🎂
