The Sungai Bintangor Bridge Renamed After Premier’s Late Wife
The iconic Sungai Bintangor Bridge has officially been renamed the Datuk Amar Juma’ani Bridge, in loving memory of the late wife of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. 💐

At the launch ceremony held at Jalan Ajibah Abol, Deputy Minister of Utility Dato Ibrahim Baki shared that this gesture honours her immense contributions, compassion, and deep love for the people of Satok.

"This bridge is more than just a structure — it's a symbol of compassion, sacrifice, and the legacy of a remarkable woman who served the people wholeheartedly," said Ibrahim, who is also the assemblyman for Satok.

Premier Abang Johari, visibly moved, thanked the Satok community for this heartfelt tribute.

The Premier also described the bridge as an “engineering masterpiece” and envisioned it as a catalyst for Kuching’s modern development.

"If Bintulu has its Golden Gates, Kuching now has its own Erasmus Bridge—the bridge in Bintangor."

🛤️ Built at a cost of RM50.6 million, the bridge stretches 108.5 metres across Sungai Bintangor and features:

A central tower supported by three massive columns

A four-lane dual carriageway

A beautifully designed waterfront promenade

More than just infrastructure, this stunning landmark enhances daily connectivity while offering locals and tourists alike a gateway to explore the heritage-rich Malay villages nearby.

✨ As described by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, the bridge is truly "iconic and one-of-its-kind" — a new jewel in Kuching’s skyline that promises to uplift communities, boost tourism, and drive local economic growth.

This is more than just a bridge it’s a legacy.
