Parking Fees to Be Implemented at Miri Fish Market Starting May
Starting May 2, 2025, parking fees will be enforced at the Marina Fish Market area in Miri. This move is in accordance with Section 3(c) of the Road Traffic (Parking Places) (Miri City Council) (Amendment) By-Laws 2012.

The decision was made following frequent complaints that parking spaces designated for fish market customers were being occupied by office workers from nearby areas, making it difficult for shoppers to find available spots. The introduction of parking fees aims to better manage parking availability for genuine patrons.

A total of 79 designated blue zone parking spaces (coded B/2M – Fish Market Marina) will be available. Payments can be made via a smart parking app or by purchasing parking coupons. Enforcement actions, including fines, will be taken against those who park illegally.

The public is urged to cooperate with the new system to help improve traffic flow and enhance overall public service delivery.
