The Santubong Archaeological Park (SAP) and Wallace Centre have officially opened — marking a new milestone in Sarawak’s tourism and heritage scene. 🏛✨
Launched by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, this RM36.6-million project is set to transform Santubong into a world-class destination that blends archaeology, culture, and nature.
Visitors can now explore three fascinating galleries:
🔸 Sungai Jaong Archaeological Site & Gallery – home to ancient rock carvings and iron-smelting remains from the 9th–14th centuries.
🔸 Bongkissam & Bukit Maras Archaeological Site & Gallery – showcasing Santubong’s past as a thriving maritime trading port, with relics from the Tang, Song, Yuan & Qing dynasties.
🔸 The Wallace Centre – celebrating the legacy of naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace and his Sarawakian assistant, Ali, who helped shape the world’s understanding of natural science.
🗿 From ancient petroglyphs to breathtaking landscapes, Santubong is now where history, heritage, and nature unite. A must-visit for all explorers, history buffs, and culture lovers!
