A new Bidayuh landmark is taking shape in Greater Bau! 🏛️✨
Rising proudly in the heart of Greater Bau, the Bidayuh Cultural Centre is fast becoming a new icon — a place that celebrates community, culture, and identity.

Now 80% complete, this RM9 million Projek Rakyat (People’s Project) is set to be ready by December 2025. 🎉

According to Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep, the centre was inspired by the growing need for larger, modern venues in Bau — especially with its close proximity to Kuching (only 30 minutes away!).

“The Bidayuh Cultural Centre will serve as a mini convention hub for Bau — perfect for seminars, weddings, and community events,” he said during today’s site visit.

The centre will feature:
🏟️ A grand hall for over 1,000 guests (or 100 banquet tables)
🍴 A canteen for daily operations
🖼️ Exhibition and gallery spaces
🏠 A Baruk (traditional Bidayuh roundhouse) as its stunning centrepiece

Harry, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine), highlighted that this project is not just about cultural preservation — it’s about empowering the local economy.

“It’s a venue for the community to create more activities and opportunities,” he added.

With Bau’s old Civic Centre no longer sufficient for big gatherings, the new Bidayuh Cultural Centre will complement other venues like the Bau Sports Arena and Mini Stadium, giving locals and visitors more options for events. 🌿

Bau is also undergoing an exciting transformation, with major upcoming developments including:
🏫 A new District Education Office (RM25 million)
🏢 A new District Council HQ (RM20 million)
🚧 The ICQS Complex in Serikin

Also present during the visit were Bau District Officer Eddy Nayoi and Bau District Council representative Samuel Suwim.
