A grand cultural and religious procession lit up the streets of Kuching last night in celebration of the 1,000th birthday of Sun Yat-sen Buddha — a spectacular display of Sarawak’s vibrant multicultural harmony. 🙏✨
Held at Sheng De En Temple along Qingcao Road, the celebration brought together 157 participating groups, featuring:
🦁 Lion & Dragon Dance troupes
🪘 Hakka Lion teams & Indian drum ensembles
🌸 Colourful floats, generals, and cultural performers from every community
The rhythmic beats of drums and dazzling performances filled the air, creating an atmosphere of joy, unity, and faith. ❤️
Among the distinguished guests were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Kuching South City Mayor Datuk Wong Hong Seng, Councillor See Chee How, and Sarawak Chinese Association President Datuk Wong Liang Keat, alongside community leaders who lauded the event as a symbol of shared heritage and interfaith respect.
