Three key community spots in Sarikei — Medan Selera Sarikei, Sungai Rejang Market, and the MyKiosk site at Taman Susur Jambu — have just received a major facelift under the Urban Development Initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT). 🏗️🌿
With an investment of over RM800,000, the upgraded facilities now offer a cleaner, brighter, and more comfortable environment for residents and visitors alike.
Among the improvements:
✅ New walkways and parking spaces for persons with disabilities (PwD)
✅ 128 new sets of tables and chairs at Medan Selera Sarikei
✅ Modern LED lighting for better safety and night-time visibility
Sarikei District Council (MDS) Chairman Stephen Wong Kie Yong said the upgrades aim to make public areas more modern, accessible, and welcoming for everyone — reflecting the government’s vision of a sustainable and inclusive community. 🌍✨
“With this fresh new look, we hope to attract more visitors and boost local economic activity,” he added.
