AirBorneo has confirmed that there has been no increase in airfares on any of its routes following the launch of its official booking website.
The state-owned airline reassured travellers that ticket prices remain the same as those previously charged by MASwings. AirBorneo explained that its fare structure is carefully calibrated to ensure operational continuity and long-term sustainability, while taking into account subsidies provided under the Public Service Obligation (PSO) agreement with the federal government.
🗣️ “There has been no increase in fares on any AirBorneo routes compared to MASwings. The purpose of the Rural Air Services (RAS) Agreement is to keep fares reasonable, balancing accessibility with operational sustainability,” the airline said in a statement.
💻 Booking Update
AirBorneo’s booking website went live on 10 December, with tickets available for travel starting 14 January 2026, in line with the legal and operational takeover of MASwings by AirBorneo Holdings Sdn Bhd effective 1 January 2026.
🌏 Routes & Commitment
During the initial phase, all AirBorneo flights will continue to operate under the RAS network, covering destinations within Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan, identical to those previously served by MASwings. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to keeping fares fair, affordable and accessible for East Malaysians.
🔮 Looking Ahead
AirBorneo will continue working closely with the federal government to secure the best possible fares. Any future fare adjustments will only be considered after a new RAS agreement is mutually agreed upon. For future non-RAS routes, the airline is developing an affordable pricing strategy that balances operating costs with value, connectivity, reliability and punctuality.
