Miri is set to usher in 2026 with a bold cultural and creative celebration as Miri Art Festival 2.0 returns on a grander scale, placing heritage, multicultural identity and local entrepreneurship at the heart of the year-end festivities.
Organised by the Dewan Usahawan Bumiputera Sarawak (DUBS) Miri Branch, the five-day festival will take place from 31 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 at the Miri Indoor Stadium, coinciding with New Year celebrations and welcoming participation from all walks of life.
Now in its second edition, the festival moves beyond entertainment to become a structured platform that connects arts, culture and the creative economy. The initiative aims to strengthen community bonds while creating meaningful commercial opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
🌍 Celebrating Miri’s Multicultural Identity
One of this year’s highlights is a competitive cultural showcase featuring seven major ethnic groups in Miri, reflecting the city’s rich diversity. Participating associations will present curated exhibitions of traditional arts, cuisine, attire and cultural storytelling, competing for a total cash prize of RM3,000.

💃 Dynamic Performances & Creative Expression
Adding excitement to the festival is the Fusion Dance Competition, offering RM6,000 in prizes, where eight established dance groups will reinterpret traditional movements through modern choreography. Performers include Kenyalang Ritma Dancer, Unity Dance Academy, Seni Kenyalang, Gah Rentak Art and Culture and Tunas Tari Warisan.
🍳 Innovation Meets Culinary Arts
Food lovers can look forward to the Black Box Cooking Competition, featuring 20 teams challenged to create original dishes using a mystery ingredient revealed just before the contest begins — a true test of creativity, adaptability and teamwork.
🎤 New Year’s Eve Countdown Concert
The festival will reach its peak on 31 December, with a New Year’s Eve Concert leading the countdown to 2026. The night will feature national artistes Ayai Ilusi, Sharman and Nizarddin, alongside local talents Adik Abbiy and Bobby, promising entertainment for all generations.
