✈️ New Bebuling Airport Set to Boost Betong by 2026 πŸŒ±πŸ“ˆ
The RM248 million New Bebuling Airport project in Betong Division is on track for completion by February 2026, marking a major milestone in Sarawak’s rural infrastructure development πŸ—οΈβœ¨

Designed as a Short Take-Off and Landing Port (STOLport) πŸ›«, the airport will serve both passenger travel and cargo operations πŸ“¦πŸ‘₯, improving connectivity for communities in Spaoh and surrounding areas 🀝🌍

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stated that the airport will play a vital role in strengthening the rural economic chain πŸ’ΌπŸŒΎ by enabling local produce and goods to reach wider markets πŸ›’βž‘οΈπŸŒ. During a recent site visit πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘€, he emphasised that the project goes beyond connectivity β€” it is about creating new opportunities for agro-based industries and tourism 🌱🏞️

β€œThe airport will play two main roles β€” passenger and cargo transport β€” allowing products from Spaoh to reach markets beyond the area, thus strengthening the rural economic chain,” he said πŸ—£οΈ

The development includes a main terminal building 🏒, extensive earthworks 🚧, pavement works, and supporting public infrastructure πŸ› οΈ. Once operational, the airport will complement initiatives such as the Collection, Packaging and Processing Centre (CPPC) πŸ“¦πŸ and the Agropark 🌿, boosting agricultural productivity and value-added processing πŸ“Š

Officials also noted that the airport could serve as a key gateway for ecotourism πŸŒ„βœˆοΈ in Betong Division, making it easier for visitors to explore the region’s natural attractions πŸžοΈπŸ“Έ and helping diversify the local economy beyond agriculture πŸ”„

In addition to the airport, Uggah was briefed on several ongoing infrastructure projects in Betong, including:
πŸ”Ή Sungai Krian Bridge (Coastal Package D4) πŸŒ‰
πŸ”Ή Highway to Roban Intersection (Coastal Package A5) πŸ›£οΈ
πŸ”Ή Batang Saribas Bridge No. 2 (Coastal Package A4) πŸŒ‰
πŸ”Ή Sungai Paku Bridge πŸŒ‰
πŸ”Ή Rural road upgrades along Jambu Krampak–Rantau Layan and Ijok–Batu Pesok–Rantau Layan πŸšœπŸ›€οΈ

The visit was attended by Betong MP Dato’ Dr Richard Rapu, Sarawak JKR Director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris, and senior officers from relevant agencies πŸ‘₯🀝, reflecting the government’s commitment to timely delivery and community-focused development ⏱️πŸ’ͺ

As part of Sarawak’s broader strategy to enhance rural connectivity πŸ—ΊοΈ, the New Bebuling Airport is expected to become a cornerstone of Betong’s development β€” delivering long-term economic and social benefits for local residents 🌱🏘️✨
