Sarawak is set to complete nine major bridges in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the stateβs infrastructure development. Among them, Batang Lupar Bridge 1 has already achieved 93.09% completion and is expected to be fully completed by mid-2026.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the Batang Lupar Bridge 1 is a high-impact infrastructure project spanning 4.8 kilometres across the Batang Lupar River, linking Meludam and Sebuyau. Once completed, it will greatly enhance connectivity and accessibility for coastal communities across Sarawak.
He noted that the bridge is a key component of the stateβs efforts to strengthen the transport network, particularly benefiting rural and coastal areas by improving mobility for residents and businesses.
During a recent site visit, Uggah revealed that nine bridges are targeted for completion in 2026, namely:
πΉ Batang Lupar Bridge 1
πΉ Batang Igan Bridge
πΉ Sungai Krian Bridge
πΉ Sungai Limbang Bridge
πΉ Batang Lupar Bridge 2
πΉ Batang Paloh Bridge
πΉ Saribas 2 Bridge

πΉ Batang Rambungan Bridge
He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD), Public Works Department Sarawak (PWD Sarawak) and all project teams for their strong commitment and close cooperation in ensuring smooth and timely implementation.
The completion of these bridges is expected to improve connectivity with the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak, boost socio-economic growth, facilitate smoother movement of people and goods, and support Sarawakβs long-term development agenda.
π§β¨ A stronger, more connected Sarawak is taking shape.
