Local muralist Aries Kong Chak Kiong, better known as Jagung Art, is taking public art to the next level by integrating AI and VR technology into his latest mural project at Java Street. ποΈ
Using VR goggles π₯½, Aries creates the base sketch digitallyβa modern twist that speeds up the early stages compared to traditional doodling βοΈ.
βThis is just one of the techniques we use to kickstart the creative process,β he shared on-site π.
The mural, a collaboration with Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), started on Jan 6 π
and is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting π€οΈ. Its theme celebrates the history of Brooke Dockyard β, bringing the areaβs past to life.
Aries, assisted by four fellow painters π©βπ¨π¨βπ¨, has a long track record of murals across Kuching and Malaysia, including works at Sidma College Sarawak, the Kuching Balloon project at India Street π, and Sarawakβs tallest mural at Mercure Hotel, Miri π¨.
This new mural promises to enhance Java Streetβs charm, blending heritage storytelling with contemporary digital art πΌοΈβ¨.
