Local muralist Aries Kong Chak Kiong, better known as Jagung Art, is taking public art to the next level by integrating AI and VR technology into his latest mural project at Java Street. ๐๏ธ
Using VR goggles ๐ฅฝ, Aries creates the base sketch digitallyโa modern twist that speeds up the early stages compared to traditional doodling โ๏ธ.
โThis is just one of the techniques we use to kickstart the creative process,โ he shared on-site ๐.
The mural, a collaboration with Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), started on Jan 6 ๐
and is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting ๐ค๏ธ. Its theme celebrates the history of Brooke Dockyard โ, bringing the areaโs past to life.
Aries, assisted by four fellow painters ๐ฉโ๐จ๐จโ๐จ, has a long track record of murals across Kuching and Malaysia, including works at Sidma College Sarawak, the Kuching Balloon project at India Street ๐, and Sarawakโs tallest mural at Mercure Hotel, Miri ๐จ.
This new mural promises to enhance Java Streetโs charm, blending heritage storytelling with contemporary digital art ๐ผ๏ธโจ.
