Sarawak is set to welcome an international-standard ship terminal at Damai Beach within the next two years, marking a major milestone in the state’s Santubong–Damai development plan to drive tourism and economic growth.
According to a report by TVS, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, said the terminal will be designed to allow international cruise ships to berth directly at Damai, opening new doors for global visitors.
He added that the project is part of a comprehensive development strategy for the Santubong–Damai Zone, which is currently being actively implemented by the Sarawak Government.
“Within the next two years, we will welcome international cruise ships once the Damai ship terminal is completed. This will significantly boost tourist arrivals to Kuching,” he said.
Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman shared this during the launch of Kuching North City Hall’s 2026 Calendar of Events and the Kuching Car Free Morning programme at Padang Merdeka.
✨ With world-class cruise access on the horizon, Damai and Santubong are poised to shine even brighter on the international tourism map. Sarawak is truly sailing towards a new chapter!
