Get ready for history! Miri Marathon 2026 will become the first running event in Southeast Asia to feature a humanoid robot participant, making it a groundbreaking platform that blends technology, sports, and tourism.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, shared that this edition marks a new milestone by introducing cutting-edge innovation to the marathon experience.

"This not only gives participants a unique and exciting experience, but also positions the Miri Marathon as a pioneer in integrating technology with sports tourism," he said at today's press conference.

The event is also expected to attract international participants who will likely stay in Miri for at least three days, boosting local businesses in accommodation, food & beverage, and transport sectors.

Miri City Council Mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang, expressed full support, emphasizing that large-scale sporting events like this help put Miri on the global map while promoting the city as a green, smart, and livable destination.

Aligned with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the marathon aims to welcome both domestic and international tourists, creating a vibrant celebration of sport and culture.
