The Batu 7 to Bau stretch is set to undergo a major upgrade into a four-lane carriageway, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving road safety along this increasingly busy route.
Batu Kitang Assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang said the upgrade is crucial, as the existing road is too narrow to accommodate the growing number of vehicles, resulting in daily traffic jams.
🛣️ “The government is planning to construct a four-lane road starting from the traffic lights at Batu 7 all the way to Bau. Another key stretch will be from Kampung Bumbok to Stephen Yong, as this is an important connecting route,” he explained.
Datuk Lo shared this during a working visit to a landslide and burst-pipe site along Jalan Batu Kitang today.
Once completed, the upgraded road will allow heavy vehicles to travel more smoothly via Jalan Stephen Yong towards Bau, with the route extending through Kampung Bumbok.
He added that almost the entire Jalan Stephen Yong has already been widened to four lanes, except for a remaining two-lane section between Bumbok and the Jalan Wee Boon Ping junction.
📌 “A consultant has already been appointed for this section, the design is nearly completed, and the project has now entered the tender stage,” he said.
🚦 This upgrade is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and safety for daily commuters and road users in the area.
