🎉 Siniawan Old Town came alive today with a burst of colour, culture, and the thunderous sound of firecrackers as thousands gathered for the annual Chap Goh Meh celebration and Ah-Nyong Traditional Street Procession! 🧧🐉
The grand procession, held in honour of the Chinese goddess Guanyin, kicked off at Swee Guk Kung Temple and wound through the heart of Siniawan, passing Jalan Jugan, Jalan Ta Foh Sak, Tanjung Durian, Keranji, and more before returning to the temple around 2pm.
From as early as 7am, the streets were filled with locals and tourists, committee members, volunteers, and vibrant lion and dragon dance troupes 🦁🐉. The deity’s palanquin made its way through eight villages, drawing crowds that lined the narrow streets to witness the spectacular sight 🙏✨
Young and old alike took part in lively performances, showcasing everything from Hakka lions to Southern and Northern lion dances — a true feast for the senses! 🎭
The celebration continues tonight! The evening programme kicks off at 5pm, culminating at 8.30pm with the traditional bamboo pole lamp lifting, lighting, and blessing ceremony — the highlight of the night you won’t want to miss! 🏮🌟
