Bau District is on track to emerge as a key hub for economic, trade, and tourism activities πβ¨ β thanks to its strategic location along the SarawakβKalimantan border.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Marine) and Tasik Biru assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, highlighted that the rapid development of border areas presents major opportunities for Bau to become a new focal point in western Sarawak π₯
βThis progress aligns with the vision of Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030 and the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS), which emphasise inclusive economic growth, improved living standards, and sustainable community development across the state,β he said.
πHe made these remarks while officiating the Bau District Chinese Community Association ceremony held in Bau town on Tuesday (March 31).
Henry described the establishment of the association as an important platform to unite the Chinese community, while also strengthening cooperation and fostering unity among residents to achieve shared progress π€
He added that community-based organisations play a vital role as strategic partners to the government β promoting social cohesion, supporting development efforts, and encouraging active public participation.
Looking ahead, he expressed hope that the association will continue to stay proactive in strengthening community ties, nurturing collaboration, and engaging the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to Bauβs future development π‘
