Sarawak is stepping boldly into the future of smart technology 💡✨
The state has officially launched Malaysia’s first-ever palm-recognition system — an AI-powered, contactless identity verification solution designed especially to make life easier for senior citizens 👵👴
Developed by SOCOE Holdings Sdn Bhd, this groundbreaking system, known as WaveJak, is now integrated with the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) — helping to eliminate the common challenges elderly users face when verifying their identity.
The launch was officiated by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, during the “Senior Citizen: We CARE for You” programme at Taman Sukma.
According to Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, this innovation places Sarawak at the forefront of global AI advancements 🌍
WaveJak uses palm vein recognition — a highly secure technology already adopted in countries like Japan, UAE, China, and Singapore — to prevent scams and identity fraud.
✨ What makes it special?
✔️ No need for cards, phones, or passwords
✔️ Fully contactless & hygienic
✔️ Faster, safer verification
As Fatimah perfectly said:
“You may forget your wallet, your card, or even your phone — but you will never forget your palm.” 🙌
Unlike traditional biometrics like facial or fingerprint recognition, WaveJak scans the unique vein patterns beneath the skin using infrared technology — making it far more secure and nearly impossible to fake.
This innovation is especially crucial during emergencies, where elderly individuals may not have access to their documents or devices.
Even more impressive, the system was developed in collaboration with global tech giant Tencent, highlighting Sarawak’s commitment to world-class digital transformation 🚀
While the KGC is the first to adopt this technology in Malaysia, broader implementation is already on the horizon — signaling a smarter, more inclusive future for all.
