Exciting progress for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS)! The first two units of Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicles — also known as the iconic “golden trains” — have successfully completed testing in China and are now ready to make their way to Sarawak 🇲🇾
According to Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd CEO, Ts. Mazli Mustaffa, these highly anticipated trains are expected to arrive in Kuching in the second quarter of this year 🚄
Recently, a technical delegation led by him visited Yibin, China, to carry out final inspections at the manufacturing facility — ensuring everything meets strict standards in terms of quality, readiness, and project specifications ✔️
💬 “We are excited to welcome the ‘golden trains’ to Kuching soon. Pilot operations are expected to begin later this year, bringing us one step closer to a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transport system for Sarawak,” he shared.
Sarawak Metro also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering the KUTS project safely, efficiently, and sustainably — while thanking the public for their continued support 🙌
🔧 What happens next?
Once the trains arrive, they will undergo reassembly works at the Kuching ART Assembly Facility (KAAF), followed by further testing at the ART depot in Rembus, Kota Samarahan.
🗓️ If all goes as planned, pilot operations are set to kick off in the fourth quarter of this year — marking a major milestone towards a smarter and greener Kuching! 🌱
