🚆 Kuching’s ART pilot operations are expected to begin in Q4 2026!
Sarawak’s Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) will officially begin its pilot run between Rembus Depot in Samarahan and Northbank in Stutong.

Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the public will get the chance to experience the futuristic ART system ahead of its full commercial launch in 2027. ✨

The pilot phase will not only serve as a public trial, but also as an important operational testing period to evaluate:
🔹 Technical performance
🔹 Service reliability
🔹 System readiness
🔹 Infrastructure coordination and improvements

Any necessary upgrades and refinements will be carried out before the system officially enters full operation.

At the same time, works under KUTS Phase 1 are still progressing, with the project currently reaching 38.2% completion as of April 30.

📍Other key updates include:

🚉 The Green Line package is expected to open for tender in Q2 2026, with construction targeted to begin in Q4 the same year.

🚌 Under the revised plan, an ART lane will run from Pending to Yayasan Sarawak, while hydrogen-powered feeder buses will operate between Yayasan Sarawak and Damai Central.

🌉 The Red Line alignment from Jalan Tun Razak to Pending has also been redesigned into a fully elevated structure to improve long-term efficiency and reliability.

⚡ The Rembus Hydrogen Production Plant will also be integrated into the KUTS system, allowing Sarawak Metro to produce its own hydrogen fuel supply for the network.

Final acceptance inspections for the ART units have already been completed successfully, and this year is expected to see the delivery of:
🚆 4 ART units
🚌 10 hydrogen feeder buses

Kuching’s future public transportation system is slowly becoming a reality — and honestly, it’s starting to feel like a true smart city. 👀🔥
