Sarawak is set to strengthen its heritage conservation efforts with the gazettement of six historically significant sites and structures across the state, ensuring these valuable landmarks are preserved for future generations.

The six sites identified for heritage protection are:

πŸ“ Kuching
β€’ Old Nurses’ Quarters
β€’ Japanese Building
β€’ Old Sarawak Railway Track Site & Maintenance Depot

πŸ“ Miri
β€’ Tanjung Lobang Lighthouse
β€’ Salome Dam

πŸ“ Saratok
β€’ Ranee Fort

The Council also celebrated strong visitor numbers at two new museums:

🏭 Brooke Dockyard Industrial Museum – 37,126 visitors

🏺 Santubong Archaeological Park & Wallace Centre – 16,758 visitors
(as of 31 May 2026)

Plus, 88 heritage objects were donated in 2025, and another 39 so far this year β€” with a special temporary exhibition planned for 2027 to showcase them.
