Starting July 1, all 33 public toilets managed by the Miri City Council (MCC) will be free to use, with the 20-sen entrance fee officially abolished.
According to Mayor Adam Yii, the initiative is part of MCC's commitment to making public facilities more accessible, convenient, and user-friendly for both residents and visitors.
The council hopes that removing the fee will encourage more people to use public toilets, improve hygiene standards, and provide a better overall experience for everyone.
Despite the free access, MCC assured that all public toilets will continue to be cleaned, inspected, and maintained regularly to ensure they remain clean, safe, and fully functional.
The public is also reminded that keeping these facilities clean is everyone's responsibility. Users are encouraged to:
โ
Practise good hygiene
๐๏ธ Dispose of rubbish properly
๐ซ Avoid vandalism
โจ Leave the toilets clean for the next person
Parents and guardians are also encouraged to teach children the importance of respecting and caring for public amenities.
A small change that brings greater convenienceโlet's all do our part to keep Miri's public facilities clean, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone! ๐
