One of Sarawak's most treasured natural gems, Bukit Lima Nature Reserve in Sibu, is seeking recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as Malaysia's largest peat swamp park located within an urban area! 🌳✨
Covering approximately 301 hectares, Bukit Lima is one of the country's few well-preserved peat swamp ecosystems, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience nature right in the heart of the city. 💚
Adding to its appeal, a newly completed 2.6-kilometre trail now connects the park's northern and southern entrances, making it easier than ever for visitors to explore more of this beautiful reserve while enjoying walking, jogging, birdwatching and outdoor recreation. 🚶♀️🌿🦜
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, said that achieving MBOR recognition would not only be a proud milestone but would also raise Bukit Lima's profile nationwide, attracting more visitors and creating positive economic opportunities for the local community.
However, he also reminded everyone that preserving this natural treasure is a shared responsibility. Visitors are encouraged to:
♻️ Dispose of rubbish properly
🚭 Avoid smoking inside the reserve
🌱 Help protect the fragile peat swamp ecosystem for future generations
Let's work together to keep Bukit Lima clean, green and thriving while supporting its journey towards national recognition! 🌿🇲🇾
