❤️ Sarawak Heart Centre Makes History with Borneo’s First TPVI Procedure!
Sarawak Heart Centre has achieved a major breakthrough in cardiovascular care by successfully performing Borneo’s first-ever Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Implantation (TPVI) — marking a significant milestone for advanced heart treatment in East Malaysia.

With this achievement, Sarawak Heart Centre has become the second Ministry of Health (MOH) hospital in Malaysia to offer this highly specialised procedure, bringing advanced structural heart care closer to patients in Sarawak and the wider Borneo region.

Previously, patients requiring this treatment may have needed to travel to Peninsular Malaysia. With TPVI now available in Sarawak, more patients can access specialised care closer to home.

✨ Why is TPVI a game changer?
This minimally invasive procedure allows doctors to replace a dysfunctional pulmonary valve without the need for open-heart surgery, offering benefits such as:

✅ Less invasive treatment
✅ Faster recovery
✅ Shorter hospital stays
✅ Improved quality of life

The successful procedure was made possible through the dedication and teamwork of a multidisciplinary medical team, including paediatric cardiologists, anaesthesiologists, nurses, radiographers and supporting healthcare professionals.

The achievement was also supported by close collaboration with the expert team from Serdang Hospital, highlighting the importance of knowledge sharing and teamwork within Malaysia’s healthcare network.

This milestone reflects Sarawak’s continuous progress in strengthening advanced cardiac services and ensuring patients have access to modern treatment options regardless of their location.

A proud moment for Sarawak healthcare — another step forward in bringing world-class cardiac care closer to the community. ❤️
