Sibu is getting ready for another exciting record attempt! π₯
As part of the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2026, the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is aiming to bring together up to 2,000 participants for a mass Kampua Tossing event, in a bid to enter the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR)! ππ²πΎ

The minimum benchmark for the MBOR attempt is 1,000 participants, but Sibu is aiming much higher β with a target of 2,000 people! π₯
More than just setting a record, the event aims to bring the community together through one of Sibuβs most iconic local foods β kampua π.
It is also part of an effort to celebrate Sibuβs unique food heritage and promote the city as the βHome of Kampua.β
The best part? The result of the record attempt will be announced on the same evening! π

And this isnβt Sibuβs first MBOR attempt!
During BCF 2025, SMC made it into the Malaysia Book of Records for the highest number of participants swinging on a 50-foot traditional Melanau swing, known as the βItutβ.
A total of 2,288 people took part, surpassing the original target of 2,000 participants! ππ
Now, Sibu is back with a new challenge β this time, itβs all about kampua! ππ
