Get ready for five days celebrating Sarawak’s stories, languages, cultures, traditions and indigenous knowledge! 🌿📖
The Sarawak Literature Festival 2026 will take place from 23–27 September at Miri Indoor Stadium and Pustaka Miri.
And this isn’t just another book fair 👀
The festival brings together literature, storytelling, culture, education, technology and the creative industry, creating a space for writers, publishers, educators, students, artists, cultural practitioners and the community to connect and share ideas.
📖 What can you look forward to?
✨ Book marketplace featuring publishers, bookstores and readers
🎤 Talks, panel discussions and workshops
📕 Book launches
📝 Poetry readings & storytelling sessions
🎶 Music and dance performances
🎨 Local arts, crafts and creative products
🍴 Food and local flavours
💡 Creative entrepreneurs and cultural practitioners
The festival is also a rebranding of three previously separate events — the Sarawak Book Fair, Sarawak Authors Festival and Sarawakiana Festival.
With Sarawak’s 34 ethnicities, there are countless stories waiting to be documented, translated, published and shared with the next generation.
From books and films to animation, theatre, digital content and tourism experiences, Sarawak’s stories have the potential to go far beyond the pages. 🌏
The festival also supports Miri’s aspiration to become a UNESCO Creative City of Literature, while encouraging more young people and communities to read, write, create and preserve their own stories.
Because every community has a story to tell. ❤️
And Sarawak has a lot of stories waiting to be heard. 📚🌿
