If youโre curious about how Malaysia came to be, thereโs a pretty interesting exhibition happening in Kuching thatโs worth checking out. ๐
The Malaysia Day 2026 Exhibition takes visitors through the story of Malaysiaโs formation with 5 main sections โ Timeline, Documents, Committees & Commissions, Important Figures, and Malaysian Identity.
Youโll get to discover important moments between May 27, 1961 and August 9, 1965, take a closer look at historical documents, and learn more about the people and groups involved in the formation of Malaysia.
And thereโs more than just reading and looking at displays! ๐
Visitors can join Malaysia-themed quizzes and Kahoot sessions, catch PENTARAMA performances, and even watch document conservation demonstrations by the National Archives.
One of the highlights is the Proclamation of Malaysia, the document that officially declared the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963. ๐๐ฒ๐พ
The exhibition also takes a closer look at things that are part of our Malaysian identity, including the story behind the Jalur Gemilang, Rukun Negara, and this yearโs Malaysia Day celebration logo and theme.
And if youโre not in Kuching, no worries! ๐
Mini-exhibitions are also being held across 10 divisions in Sarawak, as well as selected locations in Sabah and Putrajaya.
Earlier today, Datuk Abdullah Saidol was among the first visitors to explore the exhibition. He described it as a โtunnel of historyโ and reminded Malaysians to remember our shared history, put aside our differences and continue building unity as anak Malaysia. โค๏ธ
With Malaysia Day just around the corner, this could be a nice way to spend some time learning about the stories behind the country we call home. ๐ฒ๐พโจ
History may be from the past, but the story of Malaysia belongs to all of us.
