Sarawak is set to add another impressive engineering achievement, with a 704-metre elevated arch structure currently being built across swampy terrain in Sibu. 😮
And here’s the interesting part — once completed, it is expected to become the longest elevated arch structure in Southeast Asia! 🇲🇾🌏
Located along Jalan Teku/Pasai Siong, the structure was specially designed to overcome the challenges of soft and swampy ground, where soil settlement can be a major concern.
Instead of simply working around the difficult terrain, engineers are using an innovative elevated structure to tackle the problem head-on. 💪🏻🏗️
The elevated section is part of the Jalan Teku/Pasai Siong/Jalan Kemuyang upgrading project, which includes a new 6.172km road connecting the Teku Pasai Siong area to Kemuyang.

📏 Elevated arch: 704 metres
🛣️ New road: 6.172km
🏗️ Expected completion: September 2027
Once completed, the new road is expected to improve connectivity between Teku Pasai Siong and Kemuyang, making daily travel easier for residents while supporting development in the surrounding areas.
Definitely one project to keep an eye on! 👀🇲🇾
