What if Kuching’s most iconic landmarks could pop right out of the pages of a book? 👀📖
Local designer and illustrator Jack Leong has brought 12 of Kuching’s heritage landmarks to life through a creative Heritage Pop-Up Guidebook, combining beautiful illustrations, 3D paper structures, historical stories and fun facts.
From the iconic Borneo Cultures Museum and Fort Margherita to the Kuching City Mosque and the famous Great White Cat Statue in Padungan, the guidebook offers a fun and interactive way to explore the city’s rich history and culture. 🏛️🐱
📍 Featured landmarks include:
✨ Borneo Cultures Museum
✨ Sarawak Museum
✨ The Astana
✨ Fort Margherita
✨ Old Court House
✨ Kuching General Post Office
✨ Siew San Teng Temple
✨ St Peter’s Church
…and more!
What makes this guidebook special? Instead of simply reading about historical buildings, readers can watch their structures unfold on the page, making heritage learning more engaging, especially for younger generations.
The book also includes a map to help readers locate the featured landmarks around Kuching. 🗺️
And there’s more! Jack is currently working on a second, simpler guidebook featuring short introductions to the landmarks, with space for readers to collect stamps, sketch and jot down notes. Sounds like a fun companion for exploring Kuching! 🎨✍️
The current pop-up guidebook is available at selected outlets and online platforms.
💬 Kuching locals, how many of these 12 landmarks have you visited? Would you get a copy of this guidebook to rediscover our city's heritage?
