From fresh fruits to innovative snacks, Sarawak is taking a new step in modernising agriculture with its first freeze-drying machine! 🌿
The technology was showcased during the “Eat More Local Fruits Campaign” at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) complex, where Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated the launch of a unique new product — freeze-dried dabai yoghurt! 🫒🥣
Operated by the Meradong Area Farmers’ Organisation (PPK Meradong), the machine can process up to 10kg of produce in around 24 hours, including local favourites such as dabai, bananas, pineapples and durian. 🍌🍍
What makes it interesting? 👀
✅ No additional ingredients needed
✅ Helps preserve the fruits’ natural nutrients, colour and aroma
✅ Turns local produce into value-added products with greater market potential
A larger machine that can complete the drying process in around 20 hours is also available, offering even greater processing efficiency.
With this technology, Sarawak’s homegrown fruits could reach more consumers in new and exciting forms, while creating more opportunities for local farmers. 🌱
Who would be curious to try freeze-dried dabai yoghurt? 🤔👇
